GUDENAU CASTLE: The Castle, the water and park accommodate art

Gudenau

The hero of the exhibition is unquestionably the Gudenau Castle, a lowland water castle founded in the 13th century. This designated heritage building took on its present-day appearance in the 17th and 18th centuries. Also dating from this period is the large Baroque garden, the only preserved private garden of this kind in the Rhineland. Until the middle of the 20th century the castle and the garden belonged to the family Felten-Guilleaume; today it serves as the residence of the family's granddaughter, Henriette Gräfin Strasoldo.
